Sari, Not Sorry

Today was Friday the 13th. Luckily, the kids weren't any more wild than usual. Once again, Montana had to lead, because of LuRue's voice. She has decided that she should not have a job where she has to lead. They did pretty much the same thing as yesterday--Simon says, singing, Charades, but with ending the classes by watching the "One Fish, Two Fish" video.

Lunch was a traditional meal served on a banana tree leaf. We were forced to AT LEAST try and eat our rice with our fingers. LuRue became a pro at it, and ate her whole lunch like that. Montana, on the other hand, gave up and used a fork.

After lunch it was Sari time. Montana's blouse for the Sari came in yesterday, so today was the day Sheeba would "teach" her how to put it on. Although, never in a million years would she be able to recreate what Sheeba had done. Sheeba also added a string of flowers to Montana's hair, a bindi, and a tikka. Sheeba told us that tikkas were only used for weddings and dances. They got a few pictures on Montana. Then Marcia and Greg came back from their trip to the store and Marcia did Montana's hair in french braids and LuRue and Montana took some more pictures like that. Montana has become a true Indian.

At 5:00, the group went to SEAM and did the usual starting with dancing and singing, then going into crafts. This time only a few people were doing earrings. The rest were interested in learning what Montana and LuRue were doing, which was making bracelets. When we tried this before, nobody wanted to do it, so for some reason tonight it was a hit. We got cleaned up early, because today was Marcia and Greg's last day, so they decided to give out some treats and perform some goodbye songs.

For dinner, they were served the normal...veggies, rice and a sauce. However, this time they were also served crab. It was a very interesting dinner considering the crabs were not cut yet, and there were no scissors or knives to cut the crab with. After several attempts, they were told, by Sheeba, to break it open with their teeth. Which was successful after several tries and cutting their fingers.

  5. ditto Eric’s comment and Janice and Corrine’s on your outfit—just lovely. Makes one think of how many of our differences are only surface deep.
