The Last Supper

Leaving Sierra Vista was moving along smoothly...shutting down the house step by step, turning off the water heater & the water, etc. when it was time to add an additive to the gas tank. LuRue, forgetting how to fill the dispenser, dumped it all over the trunk of the car. While wiping up the mess, the doorbell rang. Jean, our shuttle driver, was 20 minutes early. But everything was ready, so we needed only another five minutes to head out the door, trailing an odor of gas.

On the way to the Tucson Airport, we saw patches of snow everywhere & a few cars with the white stuff still clinging to roofs & rear windows. Jean’s son wants to ski at Mt. Lemmon (above Tucson), so that’s good news for him. Hope another storm doesn’t move through, leaving us stranded in the desert because of snow!

Dinner on this New Year’s night was at the Sheraton R&R Grill across from the Hampton Inn where we are staying. For LuRue it is farewell to anticipating meals for the next three months. Finding adventure in travel doesn’t extend to food. Montana, however, says that her range of flavors is expanding & she is looking forward to trying new cuisines. Move over, Anthony Bourdain!

The server brought a tall bottle to our table, saying “I’ve brought you a bottle of vodka” & proceeded to fill our glasses. Montana was horrified that LuRue stated she was going to drink it all. She was convinced by LuRue to take a sip just to try it, then said “That doesn’t taste so bad...in fact it tastes like water” Then immediately realized that it was!
