Fairbanks, Alaska to Miami, Florida
Today has been the Never-Ending Day. We survived early
wake-up, got to the airport on time as well as into Seattle, but then the long
layover began!
During long layovers in
airports, however, we had excellent opportunities to test our taste buds. In
spite of breakfast on the plane, which wasn’t all that bad considering it was
First-Class, we still felt compelled to split a BBQ Pulled Pork on a home-made
Kaiser roll. We got this at Bigfoot Café in the N Terminal. We eyed the dessert
menu, but decided we needed some exercise, so we took the Terminal Train to the
C Terminal & walked to the food court.
We watched planes for awhile & LuRue tested the features
on her new camera. By then it was closing in on dinnertime, so we cruised the
food options & decided on splitting a fish & chips selection at Ivar’s
(in operation since 1938!) THEN it was time to return to the N Terminal for the
dessert that we remembered looked DEE-licious! And we just had to get it!
Fortunately our plane to Denver left on time, since we have
only one hour to switch to American Airlines to continue to Miami. On the way
out of Seattle, we had a gorgeous view of Mt. Rainier.
Another meal in First Class…a green salad & a chicken
shish kebab. First class certainly does have its perks! The salad was
DIS-gusting…
Whoops! Big surprise in Denver! Flight board stated that the
scheduled 11:50pm flight was now leaving at 9:40am! Rushing from one counter
person to another, we finally found an agent who led us to the American
Airlines agent who was just announcing that the flight was actually on time…and
to ignore the other sign which was from the day before. No one could figure out
how to change it.
The day ended well! Plane took off on time & before
midnight, we were being served warm mixed nuts & a warm chocolate chip
cookie. This First Class flying could become addictive!
Great shot of Mr. Rainier!
ReplyDeleteI am still salivating over your shared dessert…looks like I could have had a tiny bit just to taste!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Corrine is right , beautiful shot of Rainier.
Montana, just want you to know you are traveling with the "the long-layover-in airports queen". LuRue has helped me survive many a long layover in all off our travels by just being LuRue-----like 'let's get something decent to eat---, and not just fast food please, and let's find a nice place to SIT DOWN and eat'!!!
